Samstuf™—GLOSSARY, ACRONYMS & ABBREVIATIONS:, Beyond Distributed Process Control [nearly 5400 terms], by Sam Herb, well-known member of the ISA (Philadelphia Section), ISA-Philly.org, and ISA National Course Instructor for more than 20 years.
It is on his own consultancy website, that he still maintains and is the result of more than two decades of continuous diligence.
In his own words: “The inspiration for this effort began back in the early 1960s by the late Gene Murphy of Honeywell. This list will always be incomplete and enigmatic.
“For thorough process control definitions, I recommend the more complete ISA Comprehensive Dictionary of Measurement & Control found on the ISA website.” (Refer to link on Sam’s website.)
One note of care, however, as of March 2005, the ISA Dictionary was access limited only to ISA members. However, with the recent website upgrade, the Dictionary is available for purchase only.
We can only hope that ISA regains its original spirit of community generosity, so amply demonstrated by Sam Herb’s interesting and original site and makes the Dictionary a free resource at least for members, like it already does with its standards.
Way to go, Sam!
